What To Call People From The British Isles & Ireland

I think this may be the first helpful post in the history of Alligator Sunglasses. In case the above isn’t clear:
Great Britain is composed of 3 different countries: Scotland, Wales, and England. People from Scotland and Wales are technically ‘Brits’, but they refer to themselves as Scottish and Welsh. Thus, British and English are in practice interchangeable.
The United Kingdom is composed of 4 different countries: Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland. Regardless, anyone from Ireland (be it the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland) are referred to as Irish.
Best practice: People from England are English, people from Ireland are Irish, people from Scotland are Scottish, and people from Wales are Welsh. When you ask someone if they are from the United Kingdom or Great Britain, you aren’t asking them if they’re British or English.
And now you know.
